Meet AAGO's 2017 Volunteers of the Year

We wanted to take a break from all of the hurricane preparations to focus on something positive, and celebrate two very special individuals.  Each year we are charged with selecting a Volunteer of the Year from the management and supplier sides of the membership.  As we are sure you can appreciate, selecting only two people from amongst such an engaged and stellar volunteer pool is challenging, and this year was no exception.  That said, these two amazing people exemplify the qualities so treasured in a volunteer leader and have more than earned this important recoginition!  And so, we give you the 2017 AAGO Management and Supplier Volunteer of the Year...

Management Volunteer of the Year

Mark Ogier, Principal, ContraVest

Chairman, AAGO Central Florida Developers Council, Past President AAGO and FAA

Mr. Mark Ogier, AAGO’s Management Volunteer of the Year, should be a familiar face to many in the apartment industry throughout Florida.  You could argue that Mark has “paid his dues” having served as President of AAGO, FAA, and even having been inducted into the FAA Hall of Fame for his contributions to the association and the apartment industry.  Not being one to rest on his laurels Mr. Ogier has ramped up his support of AAGO in so many ways over the past year.  In late 2016, he was appointed by President Maggard to Chair the newly established Developers Task Force to bring the development community together to tackle major current and emerging issues.  Under his leadership the task force was made an official council and now includes most of the most prominent conventional and affordable developers in the region.  Mark (aka our glutton for punishment) also lends his time and talents to AAGO as a volunteer instructor for “LEAP” our premier leadership development program.  Mr. Ogier didn’t stop there, he has also served on the AAGO Foundation (our 501c3) Board for the past couple of years, most recently as Vice President of the Foundation.   Moreover, Mark and his leadership team, ensure that ContraVest supports virtually every facet of the association including participating in our advocacy efforts, education programs, and events.  The association is blessed to have high caliber leaders like Mark Ogier in our ranks.

Supplier Volunteer of the Year

Leana Wolters, District Sales Manager, RentPath

Vice Chair, Membership Committee

AAGO’s 2017 Volunteer of the Year, Leana Wolters, has truly gone above and beyond in volunteer service to the Association.  Selecting just one Associate VOTY is challenging, but Leana has certainly earned this presitigous recognition.  Ms. Wolters has been instrumental to AAGO’s growth through her efforts as Vice Chair of the Membership Committee.  In this capacity she has worked with the AAGO team and her Committee to enhance our “prospect list” and expand upon our recruiting efforts!  Together with her partner in crime, Erika Johnson who Chairs Membership, AAGO has grown by over 10,000 units already this year.  Additionally, Leana puts in the miles by beating the streets to promote the value of the association, and AAGO programs including APASS (our education subscription program).  Perhaps most importantly Ms. Wolters sets a positive example for other Associate Members by with her congenial personality, hard work, enthusiasm, and participation in so many of AAGO’s programs.  Volunteer like Leana are invaluable and so critically important to the health and vibrancy of the association.  For these reasons and myriad others, AAGO is honored to nominate Ms. Leana Wolters for the Associate Volunteer of the Year Award.
