James Burwell

James A. Burwell is a senior executive, speaker, and leadership consultant who helps organizations elevate customer experience and build resilient, people‑first teams. As Chief Customer Relationship Officer at Liberty Rent, he leads Business Development and Account Management, drawing on experience as both an operator and a supplier partner in the multifamily industry. Known for clear communication, practical frameworks, and outcome‑driven execution, James partners with clients to address complex needs and deliver measurable results.
A National Apartment Association Leadership Lyceum graduate, James has chaired and served on industry committees nationwide. He holds a BA in African American History from Tougaloo College and an MBA from Belhaven University. Recognized as an encourager with a teacher’s heart, he mentors young men of color and champions efforts to expand access to housing. A native Mississippian, he lives in the Jackson area with his wife, Constance, and their son, James III (Tre’).
