Recall Alert- Fire extinguishers feeling the heat

If you haven’t heard the news, Kidde has issued a massive recall for 134 models of its fire extinguishers with plastic handles due to “failure to discharge.” According to Kidde, “The fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.” This faulty equipment has already caused one death, several injuries, and extensive property damage. Below is information that will help you review the fire extinguishers on your property and determine if they are impacted by this recall.

 

How do you determine if your fire extinguishers are included in the recall?

1.     Click here and scroll down to the list of model numbers included in the recall.

2.     Use the photo below to help you locate the model number on your equipment.

3.     Verify if the model number on your equipment appears on the list of recalled devices.

4.     If you model was recalled, it must be replaced.
