AAGO Celebrates National Apartment Housing Day by Giving Back
If I had to describe AAGO in just one word, it would be “family.” This is because AAGO members have a true sense of community and always jump at the opportunity to give back to those in need. For this reason, it is fitting that AAGO decided to celebrate what it means to have a career in the apartment industry by volunteering in the local community.
Each year on April 6th, multifamily housing professionals around the nation celebrate Apartment Housing Day and the careers they love. Here in central Florida, AAGO members gathered at the Sharing Center in Longwood for a unique opportunity to give back to the local community in honor of this special occasion.
The Sharing Center was established in 1986 to prevent hunger and homeless in Seminole County. AAGO’s philanthropic organization, the AAGO Foundation Foundation Inc., selected the Sharing Center as one of its 2017 official charity partners and was pleased to partner with them for Apartment Housing Day on April 6th.
It was a fun filled day for everyone involved. In the morning AAGO members enjoyed having the opportunity to work at the Sharing Center’s Thrift Store and the Distribution Center. In the afternoon, AAGO members assisted with Easter food distribution, which benefited local families in need.
If you’ve never had the chance to participate in one of AAGO’s philanthropic opportunities, I encourage you to visit the Foundation’s Facebook for information about how you can get involved. There’s something for everyone and there’s no better way to get connected with others in the association!
