A supply chain shortage of liquid oxygen, an essential component of water treatment, has prompted The Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) to issue an appeal to customers to reduce water consumption. At a minimum, customers are required to comply with exisiting St. Johns Water Management District water restrictions such as limiting irrigation to twice weekly [more information here].

The greatest impact on water consumption can be made through reductions in landscaping irrigation. During weeks with higher rainfall totals customers are encouraged to reduce irrigation to once per week or eliminate it completely, as appropriate. Per OUC, their inspectors are working diligently to identify customers with excess water consumption due to leaks or issues with irrigation systems. Customers with identified issues will be required to cease irrigation until the problems are resolved.
